In the first four months of this year, the total value of China's imports and exports was 11.62 trillion yuan, increasing by 28.5% year-on-year and 21.8% over the same period in 2019, according to the General Administration of Customs.P.R. China. Exports accounted for 6.32 trillion yuan, up 33.8% year-on-year and 24.8% over the same period in 2019, and imports reached 5.3 trillion yuan, up 22.7% year-on-year and 18.4% over the same period in 2019. The trade surplus was 1.02 trillion yuan, rising 149.7% year-on-year.

In April, the total value of China's imports and exports was 3.15 trillion yuan, 26.6% year-on-year, and 4.2% month-on-month and 25.2% over the same period in 2019. Among them, exports reached 1.71 trillion yuan, up 22.2% year-on-year, 10.1% month-on-month and 31.6% over the same period in 2019. Imports reached 1.44 trillion yuan, rising 32.2% year-on-year, decreasing 2.2% month-on-month and still up 18.4% over the same period in 2019. The trade surplus was 276.5 billion yuan, down 12.4% year-on-year.

In the first four months of this year, the proportion of China's general trade in imports and exports increased. General trade imports and exports reached 7.16 trillion yuan, rising 32.3% year-on-year, accounting for 61.6% of China's total foreign trade value and showing 1.8% over the same period of last year. ASEAN is the China's largest trading partner. The total value of China's trade with ASEAN reached 1.72 trillion yuan, up by 27.6% year-on-year. During the same period, China's imports and exports to "the Belt and Road" countries totaled 3.43 trillion yuan, up 24.8% year-on-year. Among them, the exports had 1.95 trillion yuan, up 29.5% year-on-year, and imports reached 1.48 trillion yuan, up 19.3% year-on-year.
