In August 2020, the balance of payments of China's international trade in goods and services totaled 1.6929 trillion yuan in revenue, 1.3808 trillion yuan in expenditure and a surplus of 312.1 billion yuan. Of this amount, trade revenue in goods amounted to 1.5677 trillion yuan, expenditure to 1.1621 trillion yuan, and surplus to 405.6 billion yuan. Revenue from trade in services was 125.2 billion yuan, expenditure was 218.6 billion yuan and the deficit was 93.4 billion yuan.

In terms of US dollar, in August 2020, on the balance of payments basis, China's international trade in goods and services generated $244.2 billion in revenue, $199.1 billion in expenditure and $45 billion surplus. Of this, trade in goods generated $226.1 billion in revenue, $167.6 billion in expenditure and a surplus of $58.5 billion. Revenue from trade in services was $18.1 billion, expenditure was $31.5 billion and the deficit was $13.5 billion.
