Vice Foreign Minister of Russia: Sanctions have led to a drop of more than 30% in fertilizer exports Comefrom:xinhuanet    AddDate:2022-11-23    Hit:1486

According to the Information Telegraphic Agency of Russia-TASS, on the 17th, the Russian Vice Foreign Minister Vershinin said in an interview that due to sanctions, the export of chemical fertilizers in Russia fell by 38% from March to September this year, and international buyers lost nearly 8 million tons of chemical fertilizer supply.

He stressed that although the United States and the European Union had orally announced that Russian agricultural products and fertilizers were excluded from the unilateral sanctions list, in fact, Russian producers and suppliers were still facing the blocking effect of "excessive" implementation of sanctions, such as the ban on insurance, transportation and bank payments.

Vershinin stated that from March to September this year, Russia's export of fertilizers to the global market fell by 38%, compared with the same period last year, and the importing countries lost 8 million tons of fertilizer products, which was enough to produce 25 million tons of food and fed 105 million people.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov told the media after attending the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia, that despite the signing of relevant agreements, Russian grain and fertilizer exports are still restricted. Even so, Russia still exported 10.5 million tons of grain, including about 8 million tons of wheat. About 60% of food was exported to Asia and 40% to Africa. Lavrov also said that UN Secretary General Guterres has pledged to the Russian side that he will help to lift the restrictions imposed on Russian fertilizer and grain exports, including allowing Russian ships to enter European ports, foreign ships to enter Russian ports, the full operation of the Agricultural Bank of Russia and ensuring normal insurance rates and so on.
